Meccha Chameleon is an online multiplayer party game in which players are divided into Hiders and Seekers. Instead of transforming into furniture or collecting invisibility powers, Hiders begin with plain white bodies that can be painted to match the surrounding stage.
The game does not focus on a complicated story or detailed world-building. Its stages are playful camouflage arenas filled with walls, decorations, furniture, platforms, shadows, and unusual corners. Every surface can become part of your disguise, provided you can copy its appearance convincingly.
A round of Meccha Chameleon is less about running quickly and more about understanding what other players expect to see. A badly painted player hidden behind an object may survive, while a perfectly colored player standing in an unnatural pose may be discovered immediately.
How to Play Meccha Chameleon
Hide, Paint, and Pose
As a Hider, your first task is to inspect the map and choose a believable location. You can hide beside furniture, against a patterned wall, underneath a structure, or among colorful decorations.
After choosing your spot, open the painting interface and apply colors to your character. Sampling nearby surfaces helps you create a closer match, but color alone is not enough. You must also consider lighting, visible edges, shadows, and the direction from which Seekers are likely to approach.
Finally, select a suitable pose. Sitting, crouching, standing, or attaching yourself to part of the environment can completely change your silhouette. Once the searching phase begins, remain still and hope your disguise survives closer inspection.
Find Every Hidden Player
Seekers explore the stage before the timer expires and tag characters they believe are hiding nearby. In Meccha Chameleon, successful Seekers look for visual mistakes rather than obvious movement.
Check for colors that appear slightly too bright, shadows that do not belong, repeated shapes, awkward outlines, and objects that look strangely positioned. Hiders may be visible in plain sight, so searching only behind furniture is rarely enough.

Normal Mode follows traditional hide-and-seek rules. In Increasing Oni, discovered Hiders join the Seeker team, causing the hunting force to grow throughout the round. Double Mode lets teams switch roles so everyone gets an opportunity to hide and search.
Steam Workshop support also gives the community access to custom stages, creating new camouflage challenges beyond the standard map selection.
Tips for Better Camouflage
Match the surface beside you. A color taken from the other side of a room may look different because of lighting and shadows.
Break up your body shape. Use several nearby colors instead of covering your entire character with one flat shade.
Choose believable poses. Your disguise should look like it naturally belongs to the surrounding structure.
Watch your shadow. A perfect paint job can still fail when an unexpected shadow reveals your outline.
Avoid last-second movement. In Meccha Chameleon, one tiny adjustment can attract every Seeker in the room.
